Imbiba invests in NQ64

Arcade Bar - Retro Games - Classic Consoles - Craft Beer - Cocktails & Sodas

Imbiba has invested £1.4m in immersive retro-arcade bar NQ64 to support its expansion across the UK.

NQ64 has sites in Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham and the funding will support the development of a pipeline of openings in Newcastle, Leeds and Edinburgh.

David McDowall, chief operating officer at BrewDog, has been appointment chairman and former Be At One managing director Andrew Stones will represent Imbiba on the board.

Founded in 2018 by Andy Haygarth and Matt Robson, the business has gone from strength to strength, with plans to grow across the UK. A drinking den filled with retro arcade games and classic consoles, and an impressive drinks list of specially selected craft beers, themed cocktails and sodas, it’s a haven for both gaming buffs and those looking for an experience-led night out. NQ64 is a bar where classic console games and great cocktails find perfect harmony, boasting the finest games collections in the cities where they operate.

McDowell confirmed: "I'm excited to be involved with NQ64 . Andy and the team have built a really interesting and unique concept, and we are seeing plenty of great opportunities to expand their footprint throughout the UK. It's great to be supporting such an awesome young business on this journey."

The growth of gaming renaissance has been well chronicled - as modern games move closer to reality, some of today's gamers are looking for the opportunity to play games from the past. Retro games are now released as stand-alone devices, consoles, arcade machines, and entirely retro arcades… with a bold range of drinks, it’s an absolute blast.
