Darwin & Wallace is thrilled to unveil the name of its latest opening – set in the heart of Chiswick, No 197 Chiswick Fire Station will be opening its doors on Tuesday 26th April.
Originally a fire station, the space will have a stripped back utilitarian feel that is true to its heritage. No.197 will be open and naturally lit, filled with bespoke furnishings and artwork handpicked from The Hang Up Gallery in Stoke Newington, reinforcing the home from home feel. Key features include traditionally made and upholstered sofas from The French House, handmade chunky oak chairs from the Jan Hendzel studio and the Box 9 cake tables as seen in No 32 The Old Town and No 1 Duke Street.
The biggest transformations of the space will be the previously forgotten courtyard space which will burst back into life with new openings punched into the rear garden wall creating front to back light. Beautiful terracotta tiles, sourced by Bert and May will run through from kitchen to courtyard, another unique feature that will incorporate the indoor and outdoor space.
Darwin & Wallace is a collection of independent neighbourhood bars and restaurants located in iconic London villages. Mel Marriott, Darwin & Wallace Managing Director comments, “We are all incredibly excited to have acquired the old fire station, a local landmark in the heart of Chiswick. With our handpicked suppliers and team of artisans, our ambitions at Darwin & Wallace are to bring something fresh and contemporary to the space whilst drawing inspiration from the locality. This will be our fourth opening in three years and we’re looking forward to presenting our modern vision of the local pub to Chiswick with unique design paired with great food and drink.”
